Well, hello! It’s been a little over two weeks since my last post, so I thought I’d get back into the swing of things with my April goals. March was a funny old month; it flew by, but I feel like I spent most of it feeling pretty lacklustre and tired. I’m blaming the Mercury Retrograde.
I’m hoping I get a lot more achieved in April. I don’t know whether it’s a lack of energy or a big ol’ dose of imposter syndrome, but I’ve just been struggling. I run two shops and also try to regularly blog, but I’m constantly lacking confidence to throw my all into things. With my shops, I have no issue with sourcing and listing stock, it’s the marketing and creative side of it I struggle with. On here, I’m forever scribbling down ideas for posts, I’ve got notebooks full of content ideas. I just either don’t have the time (or tell myself that), and think that no-one really cares about what I have to say. Just keepin’ it real, folks! Anyway, without further ado, I’ll get into my April goals..
As I mentioned above, I really struggle with marketing my online vintage shops through social media. Ask me to curate my personal feed filled with interior shots, no problem. Ask me to creatively share the products of my shop in a cute, fashion way? Nope. Sorry, can’t do it. And I genuinely don’t have the first clue where to start. So I’m off to purchase some books on marketing for small businesses, and I’ll be religiously browsing Pinterest for styling tips.
Networking is a massive thing missing from my self-employed life. I don’t have any self-employed friends, and having irregular working hours to fit around Ada and childcare, there’s nowhere I could locally go to network. I’ve been considering for a while creating a Facebook group for wahm’s (work at home mum’s), although any career driven woman would of course be welcome. Women business owners who have children, if they’re anything like me, can get a little lost and lonely at home, so I wanted to create a space where other women can share their stories, advice, and network with each other. What do you think? Has this already been done? Let me know in the comments!
Look after myself
Now, I’m not too bad at self-care. I usually have at least a weekly bath with a face mask and some time to wind down, but nutritionally? I suck. And I’m vegan, so really I should be taking my diet a lot more seriously. If I can reach for convenience over spending up to an hour cooking, I’m gonna do that. So this month I’ll be trying to implement more of a routine, perhaps giving batch cooking over the weekend’s another try or sticking to meal plans. Perhaps even just trying to eat breakfast and lunch everyday instead of gulping down too many cups of coffee!
Short and sweet, I know, but really this month I’m just focusing on being a little kinder to myself. This month I’m into my ninth year of selling online, so I must be doing something okay! Time to start believing in myself a little more and take some leaps of faith.
